Sailing to Bute

Sailing the Firth of Clyde

With some of UK's largest marinas nearby, accommodating several thousand sailing boats, the sheltered passages around the Isle of Bute are very popular cruising grounds.

Rothesay Marina

Rothesay Marina is operated by Bute Berthing Company and has 68 pontoon berths in the inner and outer harbours. Toilets & showers are accessible 24/7 and are situated within the Victorian Toilets on Rothesay Pier.

There are many signs of Rothesay's Victoria seaside resort heritage including splendid esplanade gardens and the refurbished Isle of Bute Discovery Centre, now incorporating a cinema, theatre and many interactive displays.

Port Bannatyne Marina

Nestled in the bay at Port Bannatyne on the Isle of Bute, the marina is set in breathtakingly beautiful surroundings. Protected by a breakwater, the marina is accessible 24 hours a day, with shore facilities including toilets, showers and free wifi.

The village of Port Bannatyne offers a post office for essentials groceries and two pubs. There are frequent bus services to Rothesay and Ettrick Bay where a walk along a beautiful beach with amazing views can be completed with either a meal or tea and cake at beach side restaurant.
