Immerse yourself in Port Bannatyne
Port Bannatyne is located on the east coast of the Isle of Bute and sits about a mile and a half north of the main town of Rothesay. Port Bannatyne is well known for its marina, which welcomes many boats and sailors on their travels to the town.
Discover the history of Kames Castle, which lies a little inland from Kames Beach or head on over to port Bannatyne golf club for a round of golf.
Ettrick Bay, one of Bute’s most popular and accessible beaches lays just outside the town and comes complete with its very own tearoom. The beach also has its very own wreck, an abandoned fishing vessel.
North of Port Bannatyne is Bute Community Forest, which is an fantastic walk and the perfect location to spot local wildlife

Getting Here
Start your adventure with a ferry crossing from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay, either as a foot passenger or with your car. The ferry connects with a regular train and bus service to and from Glasgow and there are service buses and bike hire on the island, so why not leave the car behind?
An alternative route is a short ferry link between Rhubodach, north of Bute, and Colintraive at the Cowal peninsula. This can link with the ferry between Hunters Quay and McInroe’s Point near Gourock on the mainland, or you can drive north on the A82 along Loch Lomond joining the A83 then south on the A815 and A886.
